FB Coaching Contracts
Is it common for Div 1 Coaching contracts to have deduction clauses if the team under performs? I can't recall seeing anything as such.
We always see monetary incentive clauses for anything from winning the conf championship,BCS bowls, to graduation rates, etc, but considering the relative under performance of Chiz and Ferentz this year, I would think AD's would favor something that deducts from base salary; it seems one-way if not.

Re: FB Coaching Contracts
They should have them in. Put them at a reasonable level that no coach should underperform. For some schools that might be 6 wins. Others that might be 4

Re: FB Coaching Contracts
What coach/agent is EVER going to agree with that? All it takes is your starting QB to get hurt and the coach's checkbook is going to be hurting.

Re: FB Coaching Contracts
I can't think of a single business that employs such a contract. Plenty of people work on commision but I've never heard of any contract that reduced salary for underperformance.

I don't think anybody is talking about docking half of their pay for not getting to a certain number of wins. They would still be wayyy better off than most average Joes!

Yes, I agree especially when considering how one-sided the risk is getting for Athletic Dept's.
Or - Instead of awarding huge base salaries, maybe have lower bases but greater incentives and bonus' for achieving milestones.
