I just don't understand why Iowa State's former coach, Dan McCartney is so passionate about Colorado's HC situation?
McCartney always hoped that Promisekeepers would become more than a thing for white guys, but it never really did. I suspect that he is once again expressing his version of "the white man's burden."
IMHO 2 years is not long enough to turn anything around. I would think a coach would get at least 3 or 4 years to be able to play with some of his recruits as upperclassmen.
The only reason to fire a guy after 2 years is if you see NO chance that they will ever be successful. That makes me think there are deeper issues within the football program than just not winning games.
Take Chizik for example. He had a bad record the first two years, but you could see some of his recruits contributing already (LJ...) and the fans had not given up on him yet. I think it could have been enough to put him on the hot seat, but not enough to get him fired in 2 years.
Embree was either completely incompetent or CU is just really dumb. Not a lot of good coaches are going to flock there if they aren't given a chance to turn it around.
