How unexcited are you about the Nationa Championship bowl game?

Me too. Didn't even give that game a second last year.

Really excited for Notre Dame. My older brother went there and we love rooting for the Irish! He's a big Cyclone supporter too for ISU when we are playing.

You might as well pull for ND then, because we already know they will be built up and built up - just like you pointed out has happened the last 20 years even when they sucked.

That's just humor in poor taste. The Stanford marching band is known for off-color and harsh humor. They went a bit too far in that case, but I highly doubt their performance was motivated by a hate of Catholics.

^^^It has resulted in some high achieving Catholic school students to cross Stanford off their lists.

Having grown up Catholic in southern Iowa, I am all too familiar with Catholic hate. My kids even have a high school teacher who told the boys to date Catholic girls cause they are all easy. School district had no problem with his comments.

I think dislike of Notre Dame has little to do with it being a Catholic school. People are people and there will always be animosities that are historical, but for the most part unwarranted. There are local Catholic colleges, and no one has any problem with them. My dad taught me to be against Notre Dame, and most of his friends were Catholic card players. I think he took the stance, just to rib those guys.

On the other hand, we weren't in an area where the clan was strong. I have been in areas where the clan was strong and they always were more serious about their negativity.

Sorry, I would be for another Catholic school, but not for Notre Dame. Some crazy traditions just run strong.

^^^yea, the Klan was pretty powerful in Indiana ironically, hence the three day battle ND students had to wage against them in 1924.

I have been in parts of eastern Iowa that they talk about the Klan and the traditional nastiness they had against Catholics. They were nutcases and still are unfortunately. In my part of Iowa and where I live now in South Dakota, folks have been friends for all of the history that I know of.
