Is he going to be able to work out? I guess if he is, he probably needs to get gone. Someone will still take him and he can't risk more injury before getting paid. If he can't work out I could see him missing opportunity to be a top 5 pick if healthy next year.
Probably a decent idea. He'll be a bargain pick up for someone to take a chance on his knee. No point risking another knee injury without some compensation. If his knee is fully healed in a year or two, he'll get a better contract after his initial one. If not, at least he made some money.

This would be the major concern I think. Doesn't seem to necessarily be "injury-prone" as much as just plain unlucky but still. If I was in his shoes though I would get out while its still at least an option. If he did suffer another major injury next year (even if it was totally unrelated to his previous ones) I doubt he'd ever get a chance.
