The rumor mill on the wisky board now has indicated that Barry Alvarez has met with Dan McCarney twice.
Considering they're putting a lot of weight into the idea that he excelled with the talent he had here and also that he's in the Iowa Coaching tree....and that coming from North Texas to Wisky would not break the bank....This could actually make sense.....
However, not the splashy hire that sets the recruiting airways spiraling...especially when your going against KF, The Urban, and the Brady Bunch.....
Time will tell, as long as the twitter from earlier is correct and our coordinators stay put, our program will continue to develop into a very good program.
I did think of this in passing when they started looking. Afterall, he was Alvarez' first DC when he got the Wisky job.
Still, I didn't think it would happen.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
I've heard that a couple of times now. Would shock me, but be interesting and I would be pretty excited about it. His loyalty to firing coordinators was what did him in, judging by Alverez's input/control over the program that recent articles imply by his statements, I could see that not being an issue.
Really think they are going to hire a 61 year old who just recently had a stroke? I don't mean that to be mean to DMac. But That seems like a strange basket to put your eggs.
A world without yoga pants and Planter's cheese balls, is a world I no longer want to live in.
He might be on a 2-4 year plan to keep the seat warm for Chryst after he gets a couple of years under his belt and Barry doesn't feel like he is stealing him from Pitt.
