It sounds like Chip Kelly might be headed to the Cleveland Browns.

So the question becomes... would you rather coach the Oregon Ducks or the Cleveland Browns? For me, I'd MUCH rather coach the Oregon Ducks. I don't care if I make more money in Cleveland. The place is a complete hole in the ground and have not been good forever. Oregon is just beautiful and are arguably one of the top 5 teams in college football most years now.

I think this really indicates that Oregon is indeed going to be facing some stiff NCAA penalties from their investigation. Chip Kelly is pulling a "Pete Carroll" move. Lead your team into NCAA trouble, and then bail on them.

The only plausible explanation is that he's getting out ahead of the posse. It makes little to no sense to leave Oregon right now when he has the ball rolling like this, especially for a crap job like the Browns. Just like every other Browns coach, he'll fail miserably there and be fired in less than 3 seasons.

or it could be that chip is at a stage in his career like spurrier

where he just wants to take that challenge and see how successful he is in the nfl

everyone knows that like spurrier even if he fails miserably he would have colleges begging for him to coach them

Pete Carroll did the same thing when the NCAA was breathing down USC's throught.

What I dont understand is how is he going to implement his offense there? They have none of the right personnel to do his fast paced spread. I always thought Philly would be the best fit.

The hole that is Cleveland would be a better place to coach than Eugene, OR if/when it becomes a "nuclear wasteland" of NCAA sanctions.

But Pete Carroll left for Seattle. That's a much nicer city/better job than the one Chip is looking at.

Maybe he doesn't like having to recruit? Maybe he doesn't want his job to rest on the decision-making of 18 year olds. Maybe he doesn't want to deal with boosters?

Maybe, just maybe, he wants to just coach football?
