They have been a solid mid-major. But they are now a major program and will be in a major conference in a couple of years. Their program is at a much higher level than they were before 2010.

Notice the student section behind the basket? Energetic, but tiny.
I think the Olynyk kid looked just like the freshman from Dazed and Confused

Butler may be a 3 seed in March.
Brad Stevens is an outstanding coach. It's that simple. They were were a prayer of being national champions a couple of years ago. And then they followed it up with another Final 4 appearance.
Great finish, terrible execution down the stretch. Travel, botched inbounds pass.
Smart move by the A-10 adding Butler and VCU this season; I'm having a hard time thinking of the last time the A-10 had a top 15 team play on ESPN like that on a Saturday night. I'd love to see that conference return to their glory days of the 90s. Maybe they'll pick up the Big East Catholic schools?
Indeed, some great games today. It's nice for these teams to get a primetime game to showcase their programs. The A10 will get a makeover due to the Big East 7, but they deserve a lot of credit to for bringing in Butler and VCU, they are as good as a couple of the power conferences this year.
The stat that impresses me is that Butler is 3-0 against teams ranked in the top ten this year.
