College football is changing, this is another step toward the end of bowl games, I'll be shocked if the bowl system isn't on life support in a decade. It will be all about the playoffs from here on out.

No FCS games? Well, say goodbye to Big Ten conference play. Apologies if this joke has already been made. -
Re: B10 done scheduling FCS?

Mississippi has 3 million people and 3 FBS teams.
Note, I'm not saying whether I think UNI will or will not ever be a FBS team, I'm just saying the population angle isn't really relevant. If we want to get technical all FBS teams can qualify for the BCS. But look at the culture of OK or MS vs IA. For example, MN has 5.5 million people and only 1 D1 FB and BB school yet 5 D1 hockey teams because that's the culture. Saying Because MS has 3 FB teams means Iowa can have 3 teams is crazy. Frankly I'm surprised we have 4 D1 BB schools yet no D1 hockey schools.
Do I wish UNI was FBS in football - hell yeah.
Will it happen - not in my lifetime unless they become self-supporting and build a new 30K stadium.

I get hating everything Iowa does, but attempting to spin this as a negative is stupid. It is much better and more admirable for a conference to do this.
On a sidenote, scheduling FCS teams just got cheaper because 1/5 of the BCS schools looking to schedule FCS teams just dropped out. A lot less demand.

Re: B10 done scheduling FCS?
Schools shouldn't have to pay other schools to play. I understand conference opponents don't get paid (right?) but neither should other D1 (FBS and FCS) schools.

Re: B10 done scheduling FCS?
Maybe they need to coach better and get better players, then they might win more. No more 3 yards and a cloud of dust bs

With the big 10 going fbs-opponents-only, that only becomes more pronounced.

This. UNI has been getting pennies on the dollar to play Iowa State. If they do make the move to the MAC, their price will go up.
I know it's fashionable for Iowa State fans to look down on UNI, but these lower fbs schools are making tremendous money to play at BCS stadiums. I think I remember iowa paying Arkansas State like $800K to come to kinnick. That was the same year they paid UNI like 1/4 of that.

I am not one to care as a huge sports fan, but can't believe there isn't more outrage from tax payers on the program. the point is that they are researching it, and have spoken openly about the it. Around the uni/iowa game they said they were looking to make the move in the forseable future.
