Pretty ballzy for an athletic dept that has no money...
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Another Mecca being built in Texas
Once aggie breaks ground on this, UT will reveal plans that will blow this out of the water.

Re: Another Mecca being built in Texas
Oh well, we don't play them anymore and I don't recall winning any recruiting battles that turned out well for us in the past. This really shouldn't affect ISU in any way.

Re: Another Mecca being built in Texas
Lived there for a few years, this was in the works years ago when I lived there, but holy **** 420 million? on football? Money is ruining college athletics, pay the players then. Or if you have that money help your community out!!! Feed and clothe those in need!! Or spend it on education!! I mean their stadium is very nice already is this really necessary A&M really?

Re: Another Mecca being built in Texas
Potentially paid for by an increase in student fees and student sports pass price. I voted in support for these measures this week since I graduate before they go into effect (and didn't pay tuition anyway). Just as well stick it to the next generation of delusional Aggies.

Kyle Field Renovation Fee Referendum - All students may vote on this race.

View the full text of S.B. 65-38 - Kyle Field Renovation Fee Referendum The Texas A&M administration has proposed a renovation of Kyle Field, which will begin in 2014. This will include significant improvements to the first deck of the east side of the stadium, as well as renovations to bathroom, concessions, and other facilities. To cover these expenses, the student body has been asked to contribute $75 million through a bond to be paid over the next 30 years. The University has promised that, regardless ofhow the renovation is funded, students will retain the number of seats they currently enjoy in Kyle Field. Part of the cost to students will be covered through increases to the price of sports passes; the remainder will be funded out of the University Advancement Fee, which currently stands at $1326.09 per semester for full time students. An increase to this fee has been proposed, but existing uses of this fee may be reprioritized instead to cover these costs. The total proposed, permanent increases would add an additional $1.55 per semester credit hour ($23.25 per semester for full time students) to the University Advancement Fee and $139.20 to sports passes. Do you support these increases, or do you oppose these increases and wish to fund the improvements out of existing revenue streams? ∞ -

$420 mil could buy a lot of mason jars.

Re: Another Mecca being built in Texas
This makes me think our SEZ project is going to be a crappy cheap version of what we should do. I'd rather have us make it better than it needs to be so it's good for the long run.
Doing things on the cheap never works out well.

Tennessee thinks this is a great idea.

Doing things on the cheap never works out well. Eh, 60 million (the rumored) still pays for a lot. TAMU is practically redoing their entire stadium. There was a time they were even discussing moving their home games for a year to get this done.
And unfortunately, given the trouble we even seem to have getting to that mark for our SEZ (people have literally been talking about doing the SEZ since the 70s), can we really complain if its not Texas-sized in scope?
