NCAA Tournament at the Well.
When do you think this is going to happen? I was told that the reason they dont have the men's tournament at Wells Fargo is because Des Moines does not have the hotels/reasonable accommodations to host. I wish they would figure it out. I went to 1st/2nd round games at the United Center 10 years ago or so and it was one of the coolest experiences I ever had at a sporting event.

Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
Wells Fargo arena is too small

Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
No it's not. That is what I thought too but its not. University of Dayton Arena - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - hosting First Four and 1st/2nd round and only holds a little over 13,000
Wells Fargo holds 16,110 for basketball

Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
The hotels in the vicinity of the arena won't allow for it. You need 8 full service hotels within a reasonable distance and the Well doesn't have that.

Ok thats what I thought. Hopefully they plan to work that out. The reason I even thought about this was because I was told that they moved up the boys state tournament a week from when it used to be to accommodate the NCAA tournament.

this is the reason they are building that Hampton Inn (by el bait shop). I think there is another hotel that is being planned closer to the arena as well.

This is the excuse I always hear but there are tons of hotels in the Des Moines area including Ankeny and West Des Moines which are within a 15 minute drive to the arena. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

If they had sessions at the Well, there's no way I could resist.
Someone should forward that to JP, and then to the NCAA. There's no way they can resist my amazing buying power.

If that is the case we should get in on that deal too.

Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
If Des Moines can host NCAA wrestling and a Regional for the Women's NCAAs, then it can host 2nd/3rd round for Men. Problem is that there are more cities than ever out there now wanting to host.
I think Des Moines should push for Big 12 women's tourney if they are going to move that thing around.

Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
Take a look at some future locations. Spokane Veterans Memorial?
One issue Des Moines faces is stiff competition in the region. Preliminary round sites announced for 2014, 2015 NCAA tournaments - NCAA.com -
Re: NCAA Tournament at the Well.
I am personally more mad about Indianapolis getting a Regional this year AND next year AND then gets the Final Four in 2015!
