Re: McCarney interviewed at Northern Illinois

Well we know Iowa won't be scheduling them anymore.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Well, we all know how accurate he is.

I suppose Iowa will never schedule NIU again.

Good fit for him, wouldn't surprise me too much.

I was about to make a post on this. Channel 5 mentioned it on there broadcast saying, "Coach McCarney would like to give it one last go around as the head man before retiring."

But come on... With so many good jobs open, why does he have to settle for a MAC team.

I'm pretty sure they visit Ames in a couple years. Could be a nice homecoming.

    September 4th, 2010. Hopefully we're a top 25 team then!!!

Dan will land another HC job, he is a good coach and a good recruiter, actually i think he was a very good recruiter. It would be good for him, but he loves living in Florida right now

No one has beaten Dan's door down for a job. He will have to work his way back up the ladder to get to a major conference job, in my view. He had good years here, but the way he finished leaves a bad taste in other schools mouths. Who wants a coach who was recently fired?
If he has success at a Northern Ill. he can move up from there.
