Re: YOUR Conference Power Rankings
Big 10 finally proved they're as significant as matching their name with the number of teams in the conference

The Michigan win was impressive. Illinois proved they didn't belong in the BCS. We'll see what OSU can do against LSU before passing judgement on the B10 but its not looking too good right now. I'm not looking to have it both ways. Again, this is my semi-biased opinion. And IMO, the BT is better than would be predicted in the post season, but still not up with the SEC, Big 12, or Pac10 - who can back up their talk with wins.

Top to bottom, I don't think there is much doubt the SEC is the top conference. However, I do think the Big 12 may be the most top-heavy conference with OU, MU, and KU. The Big 12 would have had 3 teams in the BCS if it was allowed. I don't think another conference could say that...even the SEC.

I don't think another conference could say that...even the SEC. I agree - the Big 12 is very top heavy. OU, KU, and Mizzou are very good this year, and then Texas/Texas Tech are January Bowl teams, and after that, there is a rather significant drop off.
But with 5 very deserving January teams, the Big 12 is easily the second strongest conference - but the SEC has more balance as you pointed out.
The Pac 10 is very top heavy, with no mediocre teams - just bad teams after USC/Oregon.
The Big Ten was a one team conference - OSU. Illinois, UW, PSU, and UM were medium to good, and MSU, Indiana, and Purdue were "eh".

There are 11 bowl games played on or after January 1.

There are 11 bowl games played on or after January 1. EXACTLY. This is why I think so many people have stated on this board and elsewhere that they just can't get as excited about bowl season anymore. There have been so many games now for so many years that they have finally started lose people's interest. I know I was thinking "So what if I miss this bowl game, there are like 10 more coming up."

Bowl Games
great site for bowl game history... going to any bowl in '77 meant you were a Top 34 Team. Going to a January Bowl this year means you're Top 22.
It really did used to mean something.

I think the jury is still out on KU...my guess is that VT will prove them to be a BCS "phony" just as Georgia did with Hawaii.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Impossible to tell how good a conf is just by bowl games. I mean the matchups can be completely different.

You mean you aren't anxiously awaiting the GMAC Bowl?!?!
Have you looked at the crowds at a lot of these bowl games...a lot of empty seats at many of them...the Gator Bowl, for example, had hardly anyone in the upper deck and lots of empty seats in the lower level.

Minus the first part of the game, KU hung with Missouri so I'm not so sure the jury is still out on them IMO. My guess is that the VT/KU game will be a good one.

Wow...call me surprised by the WVU thrashing of OU! Their interim HC at WVU appears to have been successful in using the "us against the world" motivational technique. I have watched WVU play several times this year and they really brought it last night.

Re: YOUR Conference Power Rankings
Looks like Oklahoma's no-show game puts the Big 12 at 4-3. I predicted 6-2. Still can't believe WVU made it look so easy. And why Stoops tried an onside kick when the momentum was shifting OU's way is beyond me.
