Dan Mac News
My sources tell me he will probably end up the head coach at South Alabama. They are just starting a football program. Probably a great situation for both Mac and the School.

Re: Dan Mac News
Cool... Good gig for him, he is a builder and not a next level guy, so that is a perfect fit.

Re: Dan Mac News
He is certainly interviewing for the job. USA is in the process of interviewing a number of people including former Southern Miss coach Jeff Bower, former Tulane coach Chris Scelfo, Auburn running backs coach Eddie Gran, Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, Mississippi State offensive coordinator Woody McCorvey, and Clemson wide receivers coach Dabo Swinner.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Re: Dan Mac News
I've always said Mac will end up at at small southern school with no football tradition or pressure to win. This would be a good fit for both him and the school. Best of luck to him if this where he lands.

Re: Dan Mac News
I would look at Mac as probably #3 on that list above...I lived in Nawlins for 5 years and the Southern Miss coach has a very good rep in that area. Chris Scelfo from Tulane an OK rep, and I don't know about the others. If Jeff Bowers is available and wants the job, I bet he gets it...he's already so familiar with the area...recruiting, etc.

Re: Dan Mac News
I hope he goes soon, might help us with a recruit or two on the fence.

Some interesting quotes in that article.

I believe Randy Shannon was the DC at Miami under Coker...usually the HC very involved in whatever side of the ball that he "earned his stripes" to get the HC job.

Re: Dan Mac News
I'll always wish him the best in life and hope he succeeds wherever he goes. I really can't say if he'd be better sticking with being a DC or build up some place as a head coach. All I know is the kids he coaches are in for a real treat.

Re: Dan Mac News
Looks like Miami has taken the KU DC: KU defensive coordinator heads for Miami
And it looks like USA is interested in Dennis Franchione: al.com: Everything Alabama

Re: Dan Mac News
I love Danny boy for all he did for ISU, but it is no coincidence that he can't get another head coaching gig...even at South Alabama or Northern Illinois. I really think he would have to go to FCS (old DI-AA) or DII to get a head gig as sad as that is.
The only job he is going to have at a DI school is likely that of a coordinator.

Re: Dan Mac News
Starting to look more and more like DMac will be So. Alabama's new coach. LINK -
Re: Dan Mac News
Will prove me wrong if that is the case, but looks like he wasn't/isn't 1st choice.
Will be interesting to see if they offer him or look elsewhere at this point. If they look elsewhere, that will be a huge slap in the face.
