There's an insider column about the Big 12 today as well, and after KU who they say is the cream of the conf, obviously, they state that Baylor is in the next best 4 teams in the conference.
I also liked the set up of KSU playing West Virginia in the first round. Any bets on how bad Bill Walker would want to go for about 40 pts and 20 rebs against his "friend" and former coach that walked out on him? :) | "People tend to overestimate what they can achieve in a year, but underestimate what they can achieve in a lifetime. I guess i don't know completely how selection and seeding works and all that, but they'll try to keep the women playing near home if they can right? So, if they're diserving of a 7 seed, would the committee maybe slide them down to an 8 so they could play here? cause that'd almost be a jip, having to play the #1 if you won your first round... just wondering if anybody had any insight. Just figure it'd be better to go somewhere else as a 7 seed than stay home as an 8? i guess you'd end up playing a 2 seed anyways right....?... | 'V'MB A1 Every Yard for I - S - U |

But think about this, in the current bracketology who would want to be the 1 seed in DSM. Made for TV upset! |
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

They have actually made it deeper in the tournament then we ever have. They made the final four in 1969 and lost to Lew Alcinder and UCLA by three, gave them the best game in the tournament, no other team came within 15. | |
