Rodriguez accused of destroying files at WVU

ESPN - Report: Player files went missing after Rodriguez took new job - College Football

If this is true Rich Rodriguez should be fired from UM and never coach again.

This guy is unbelievable...

Umm, yeah. RichRod was paid by the school to coach and develop talent. They paid him good money to develop that information. Can't wait to see how this one plays out.

Holy crap...the saga continues. I'm kinda chuckling in the direction of UM on this one. Talk about a debacle of epic proportion.

I can't even begin to imagine what he would hope to gain by doing something like that, other than completely destroy a legacy he built as a very successful coach at his alma mater.

Allegedly....

Someone at WVU is trying to make something out of nothing. If your staff is leaving a school there are going to be certain things that you take with you and certain things you discard.

Is that what they're trying to convince you of on talk radio in Michigan?

Why isn't this information backed up on a server? They only had paper files...?

I have to imagine that they are more modern, but the point is this guy is a creep.

I'm in no way a UM fan, but it sounds like sour grapes from WVU. If it's important you have multiple paper copies stored in separate places, in case of fire. You also have them saved electronically to back it all up. This wouldn't be a story if they weren't so scared they may have made a mistake letting him go. Ie, they wouldn't develop the facilities, etc. Rodriguez thought were necessary to continue to compete at that level.

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Easy tiger. First of all, this article was posted at 10pm. Not sure how much sports radio is on at this time of the night. Secondly, I am a Cyclone on a Cyclone message board. Not sure about your personal jab. I loathe the Little 11 just like the rest of us.

My comment was based on the fact that there are a lot of people pissed off at Rodriguez for leaving WVU. This goes all the way up to the governor of WV who called him out. They are also in the middle of a lawsuit against him for leaving before his contract was up. People are going to try and dig up whatever they can to tarnish the man.

My guess is the files were nothing more than papers on potential future recruits (why would not discard those at a school you are no longer employed) and basic stuff that accumulates in an office that you work out of for years. Like the article said, player files including grades and disciplinary actions have to be recorded in numerous other places as well... not just a coaching office.

This sounds like sour grapes from WVU to me, for all the reasons others listed.

We will see...
