Re: cyclone alley

The "you suck" makes us look like idiots. That bothers me more than the cursing, personally.

Re: cyclone alley

ChadM and I sat in Cyclone Alley today, on the ISU bench end, and it certainly wasn't any better (if not worse) than past games. I'm sure some of the officiating didn't help and I won't get upset about the individual stuff in response to that. You hear that stuff everywhere in the stands.

But the crass/vulgar chants could easily go away. The "you suck" frankly lacks any thought and is just classes. The additions to the "Hey Song" are inexcusable...period.

Surely I'll be labeled as a moral pulpit beating fool or something like that - that's to be expected from the "I can say whatever I want" crowd.

Have fun, be rowdy, be loud and intimidate the other team - I beg you. But at least make a feeble attempt to do with with a little class.

It was audible and clear as day coming through the TV broadcast as well. The announcers even joked about it, saying something like, "well, at least we know how the crowd feels about those calls"

The BS chant was just funny imo. When you can get that many people doing it simultaneously, something ain't right. That wasn't just Cyclone Alley. I think all of the crowd can take take credit for that

I try to keep my language to a minimum.. somewhat. It all depends on how mad i am or whatever. I participated in the BS chant, bc i was furious. I don't however participate in the "go cyclones go" and "you suck" chants.

Re: cyclone alley

A lot of people care and it is looking bad for the school.

Also, how does it look when the AD makes a specfic request to try and change it, and it is ignored. Nice.

(Clarification, there is a difference between the BS chants that are in respinse to calls, etc,, an the organized chants. Just my opinion.)

Problem with the request is that many (including myself if I was in the Alley) would just see that as all the more reason to not clean it up.

Just another way of the man trying to keep 'em down.

uh we are a college student body we don't always conform to what other people would like us to be. plain and simple, funny how we don't have this problem for football, why is basketball so special?

Re: cyclone alley

The majority of current students including me just don't really care. The same thing happens everywhere but I would agree that it may be more prevalent here at ISU. I mean all i gotta say is..."don't know the words, don't know the words, don't know the words to the stupid ******* song!" just part of the tradition i guess, but i agree it isn't the classiest thing ever lol

Because football isn't always so clearly heard...it's outside, the sound goes other places....basketball is indoors, and generally more kids because it's cheaper..

Re: cyclone alley

Actually, dropping the F-bomb during that song is not tradition. It may be the "recent tradition" but that's certainly not how it used to be sung.
