I don't know whether to shake my head or laugh at the folks that firmly believe Hilton Magic and organized vulgar chants are synonymous with one another.

It's just crazy talk.

My bet is that students will listen to JP if he talked to them and not by some generic email. My bet is also that students go against what some dude on a message tells them to do or think. Just my thoughts.

I never said i couldnt hold a conversation without swearing and i know a lot of other people that can too. I rarely swear at bball games but if you want hilton to turn into what winter break games have become, then lets boot em all. and i disagree that a teenage recruit is going to knock us off their list because we swear occasionally

Ya'll have fun, justify it however you want. Just don't expect the "grown-ups" to agree with it and just watch it continue.

C ya...

I agree with both statements.

I was listening to the game on the radio today, and when the BS chant came out, all I could think was "way to be classy CA,"

Save us tonight, the last hope for all of us,
Light-years gone by, we're still holding on,
Save us tonight, a star shines in all of us,
Far beyond our lives, still our glory lives on.

Not to sound overly high and mighty, but although I was not perfectly non-swearing at Cyclone athletic events, I did try to restrain myself because I always thought it probably made me sound like a Hawk fan.

We always chose clever insults over mindless profanity.

I saw a 70 yr old man being calmed down by his wife today because he was yelling at the refs, what about them!? You cant say it is only cyclone alley, although it is a majority

Re: cyclone alley

I really don't mind quitting the vulgarity, but this sort of thing is not going to change overnight with a stern e-mail from the AD... especially when your audience is a bunch of young adults a few years removed from living at home under rules they thought were gone forever. A lot of students are still young and in the stage of life where they're just naturally rebellious and will resist authority at every chance.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

And it started with what group in Hilton?

So whats the deal?

I have been going to Iowa State games since before I can recall and from all those times going there do you know what I remember? I remember the great plays, the players, and the atmosphere. I dont remember the swearing. I remember thinking I can't wait until I can be in Cyclone Alley. I know you want to bring your kids, and please do. But no matter what happens you are not going to change that big of a portion of the population going to the games. And for one more thing...is the only swearing coming from Cyclone Alley??? just wondering...

I agree with this... the BS chant was too loud today to just be Cyclone Alley.

Doesn't matter where it started, if everyone else was so concerned about saying that, then they wouldnt have all joined in

Re: cyclone alley

Alrite lets let cyclone alley sit on their hands next game and see how it works, heaven forbid they get into the game and let some adrenaline in their emotions. yea some of the swearing isnt necessary but its the heat of the moment especially when you have to put up with terrible officiating
