Re: OJ Mayo accepts tickets from 'Melo, could be NCAA rule violation

SI.com - NCAA Basketball - NCAA: Mayo won't miss any games - Friday January 25, 2008 11:52PM

I don't care so much about the ruling. But the super quick decision making process by the NCAA is amazing. I guess being USC and a high-profile athlete has it's advantages.

Mayo breaks NCAA rule

Mayo violates rule but doesn't miss any time. Surprise Surprise. I wonder what would happen if this were an ISU player. Maybe Carlos Boozer gives his brother and his roommate tickets. Would the NCAA just make the roommate pay for them?

BTW I understand this is in the prosports forum. It was not by accident.

Maybe what Lucca needed to do instead was to donate the money that he didn't take from the team in Germany. That way, everything would be okay. I agree with the ruling that Mayo didn't do very much wrong, it's just that it took the NCAA almost 3 months to make a simple decision on Lucca. 3 months to make the wrong decision. :(

so according to NCAA rules since he accepted "money/ gifts" does that make UCLA a professional team?

"USC said in a release the NCAA restored Mayo's eligibility after he and his family donated the money, making him available for Saturday's game against Oregon."

this is pure horse manure, poppy ****, or what ever you want to use

I hope the NCAA commitee gets a ton of mail from this
