Iowa HS's with most D1 players.

I was interested in which high schools produced the most D1 football players. I figured that Valley and Bettendorf would be at the top. I looked at the 2007 rosters of the 3 instate D1 schools then any players I knew from Iowa that went out of state.

Cedar Falls had the most with 7 players, all playing at UNI. Surprising for me was that Humboult tied with CR Washington for second with 6 guys. I am sure there might be more out of state guys I am missing, if so feel free to add them.

Ankeny (5)

Evan Vencil --> ISU
Matt Hulbert --> ISU
Andy Brodell --> Iowa
Grant McCraken --> Iowa
Dan Bachman --> UNI

Bettendorf (4)
Euseph Messiah --> ISU
Chris Mahoski --> ISU
Colin Sanderman --> Iowa
Pat Angerer --> Iowa

Cedar Falls (7)

Jordan Borcherding --> UNI
Taylor Brookins --> UNI
Ben Curran --> UNI
Nate Curran --> UNI
Nick Nelson --> UNI
Schuylar Oordt --> UNI
Sam Peterson --> UNI

Humboult (6)

Nick Harklau --> ISU
Klayton Kirkpatrick --> ISU
Tyler Nielson --> Iowa
Ben Thilges --> Iowa
Cody Hundertmark --> Iowa
Jordan Smith --> UNI

CR Washington (6)

Paki O'Mera --> Iowa
Gavin McGrath --> Iowa
Rob Bruggeman --> Iowa
Adrian Arrington --> Michigan
Maurice Cantrell --> Colorado
Warren Suess --> Ball St.

WDM Valley (5)

Zac Sandvig --> ISU
Alex Sandvig --> ISU
Jason Scales --> ISU
Jake Williams --> ISU
Mike Knapp --> ISU

CR Wash will soon be adding a very good one to the list in Keenan Davis.

Also, Will Suess was on the Indiana roster last year, although I think he has since transferred.

My old high school, Muscatine High School, are pretty much all Cyclones. Even though it is way here on the east side on the Mississippi.

Ben Barkema --> ISU
Nick Frere --> ISU
Nate Frere --> ISU

I guess before that Ben's older brother C.J. Barkema (who was about 6'7") went to iowa, but never really saw the field.

It's encouraging to see how well we recruit Des Moines, from what I've seen in high school playoffs, there just seems to be more talent coming out of the middle of the state.

UNI isnt really a D1 school in football. I wonder if all the Cedar Falls kid are walk ons to the home town school.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night
