Sampson out at Indiana, cash settlement, will not sue
What was all this talk about ethics at IU? Whatever... ESPN - Indiana poised to announce Sampson's fate as coach - Men's College Basketball
UPDATE
A settlement has been reached and Sampson is out. $750k "buyout" and he agrees not to sue Indiana.

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
if this was isu. The NCAA would probably ban mcdermott from basketball for life and put isu on probation for 50 years. I hate the NCAA stupid people who screw the little guy. Example, lucca staiger

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
It just shows you all they care about is winning. Samson is winning, so that's all they care about. I wonder what they would think if they were banned from postseason play?

Let's see, who is in charge of the NCAA? Where did he come from?

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
I read an earlier report on Sportsline (Gary Parrish) that most of the players threatened to quit the team if Sampson was fired. If that's true and this is the response from the AD, then the inmates truly are running the asylum. Unbelievable.

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
If you can him then you should can the morons who hired him. Anybody associated with that hire should never represent IU again. They knew what they were getting when they hired him.
What ever happened to truth, justice and the American Way? -
Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
This has nothing to do with the NCAA, this is Indiana's decision... They are either trying to cover their tails so they don't get sued or calm the players down so they still have a team. He WILL be fired, eventually...

I'd say screw the players if that's their attitude. Replace every last one of them with kids that want to be there and start over. Sure, you'll take a short term hit but when has Indiana been relevant in the postseason anway?

That is exactly what they are doing. Jim OBrien just won 3 mil over his wrongful termination suit with OSU.
Indiana is not yet ready to can him, they suspend him which gives him time to voice his objection, then he is fired later.

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
Well you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. All they are doing is saying he could coach again pending the results of the investigation. Way smart move on Indiana's part and could save them a lot of money.
If the charges prove true, I'm sure they'll offically terminate his employment and legally be able too per the terms of his orgional contract.
Lucca people, give this a break. You're comparing apples to oranges.
You'll never see Sampson coach an IU team again(I'm assuming he's guilty).

Re: Sampson NOT To Be Fired...Just Suspended...
I didn't read the article but they were talking about it on the radio yesterday. They were saying that Indiana was in negotiations with Sampson to come to an agreement on the buyout and if an agreement couldn't be reached then Sampson would be suspended while they figure out the best way to terminate him without going against his contract. So Coach Sanctions was probably being an horses butt in the negotiations so now Indiana is exploring their options to give him the boot.
