ISU is woefully lacking in shooting ability for the past many years - this year was one of the worst. Besides Sullivan, we have not had outside scoring threat.

And when I look at teams like Davidson and Butler (not to mention pros like R Miller and Curry), who posses excellent shooting teams, it makes me wonder if the Power-Lifting requirements are over-blown.

It's an age-old debate I had with a bunch of fellow 'Clones from an old board - I was in the minority with that opinion.

Don't get me wrong; weight "TRAINING" is an important element of conditioning for basketball. I just don't see great shooters possessing the ability to power-lift 300 lbs .
Strength training is critical in today's game but I don't think that the bench press measurement is the key measurement of strength that is important in being able to compete on the court. My son is fortunate that his school employs a strength and conditioning coach that has worked with several pro and college teams. They do the bench press but they do many other lifts and drills as well and they are not judged by their bench press alone.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Re: Stephen Curry

Bench press will only help in pushing off, which isn't really legal anyways. I would be more concerned with a players squat and explosion exercisez like hang cleans, box jumps, hand/forearm strength etc...

Re: Stephen Curry

When do we start the thread that says he grew up as a diehard Cyclone fan, and spent all of high school begging and pleading for the chacne to join his beloved Cyclones, but Mac just didn't have the time of day for him?

I really think I'm kidding

Just saw him interviewed in the post game. What a nice, classy kid. Refreshing.

But shouldn't he be inelegible because he used to shoot hoops with someone who got paid to play (his dad)?

Patrick who?

Re: Stephen Curry

good God, I just looked at my wife's "second chance" bracket for the bigger pool we're in for the first time, she's going to go 8-0 on these games. When I saw she picked Davidson to get to the elite eight I asked her why and she tells me "that little guy that hit those 3s against Georgetown is pretty cute"
