Big Dance: Big12 vs Big10

UPDATED:

Since most of my banter revolves around Iowa and the Big10, I have put up a few numbers to show how each conference is doing in the MBB dance.

Big12:

record: 10-5 (67%)
average starting seed: 6.7
average loss's seed: 4.4
average win's seed: 9.6
wins playing above seed: 1
losses playing below see: 0

Big10:

record: 5-4 (56%)
average starting seed: 5.5
average loss's seed: 5.8
average win's seed: 10.4
wins playing above seed: 2
losses playing below seed: 1

head to head: advantage Big10 by 2 games, but played out correct per seeding.

Neither conference has been upset by a lower seeded team.

IMO: both are playing comparable. The S16 games will allow the cream of the 2 conferences rise to the top.

Fun numbers for me...

anywho.. .carry on.

EDIT: It appears that the Big12 is the better conference. Starting with a lower average seed and winning 2/3 of their games posting an amazing 10-5 record for this years tourney.

On average the Big12 lost games to higher seeded teams and beat higher seeded teams. the only counter a Big10 fan can have is that 2 of their conferences 5 wins came against Big12 teams (6 vs 11 seed and 3 versus 11 seed). Which isn't surprising. The Big12 has had the tougher road in this tourney and is winning and has not had one 'upset' this entire tourney.

Carry on.

No problem...

Really wish A&M could have help off UCLA. That would have been extra impressive for the B12.

Big Ten is 2-0 vs. the Big 12. Purdue beat Baylor and UW beat KSU

Yeah, I'm not in favor of the experimental rule in effect for that game that made both of the shooters forearms and elbows part of the ball...

Big11 may be 2-0 against Big 12 but remember that it was the Big11's first and second place teams against the Big 12's 3rd and 5th place teams. Big11 had better be 2-0 in that scenario.

yeah... but neither conference has had an upset against them. Only conferences to be that way I think.

Big Ten is 2-0 vs. Texas as well.

But anywho, so far, I'm surprised at how weak the ACC was. UNC is obviously dominant, but one team in the Sweet 16? And the all-mighty Pac 10 has 3, and only 1 will probably make the Elite 8.

As of now, the three best conferences are the Big Ten, Big East, and Big 12. In fact, those conferences make up almost half of the 3rd round teams.

Re: Big Dance: Big12 vs Big10

i realize this is pretty much unrelated, but big 12 women swept the first round - going 8-0. pretty impressive, no matter what the seedings.

As for the men, i am quite surprised by the big TelevEN doing as well as they have (as evidenced by my bracket :-/ ). I thought all year long that the big ten was pretty weak, but they haven't shown it in the tourney so far

There aren't any Big 10 teams left?
