There is a difference between when coverage starts and when tipoff is. For big games, tipoff is always at a weird time.

ESPN advertised it all week as an 8:21 tipoff...

I thought it was funny when they mentioned that Kansas was used to OT games in NCAA finals - because they played an OT game in 1958 or something like that! Yep - that experience lifted Kansas last night.

At halftime, the radio announcers pointed out that, of Kansas' various title game appearances, they had led at the hafl or been tied only twice, once in 1958 and 1988, and won both games. "Maybe this will be a good omen."

Nothing says a statistically reliable trend like three isolated occurrences spread over 50 years
