Props to Bilas!

Re: Props to Bilas!

nice. What was the date on that clip? To me, that's the kind of topic that will get your show yanked. Bilas did the right thing by pointing out the flaw in the argument and then showing disdain for the topic in general. He handled it well.

Re: Props to Bilas!

Eh, maybe the topic isnt worth really investigating but just because Bilas doesn't want to offend anyone and tells the host that its stupid doesnt really mean he 'owned' anything.

Maybe I shouldn't have said owned. But it made Bilas look a lot better and Le Batard a lot worse.

Re: Props to Bilas!

LMAO. Love Bilas...

"no offense...this is stupid." I say that all the time...I actually think I said it in another thread today. lol, irony and sarcasm rule my life where I am nothing but quotes and cliches.

I've always thought Le Batard was an idiot and would pretty much tune him out whenever he managed to get on ESPN anywhere.

That is true Bilas never really "owned" any argument there, but just proved that the guy trying to make an argument out of that ridiculous topic (Le Batard) is stupid for doing so and was wise to not dignify it by getting into a racial/ethnic argument that was going nowhere.

Just compare a radio talk show like Le Batard's to Mike and Mike. And wow is there just a heck of a difference between the quality of them.

Re: Props to Bilas!

Le Batard loves to play the race card. That's his "thing."

Is that a picture of Charlie Day as your avatar, Isucyclone4?

Re: Props to Bilas!

In defense of LeBatard....I used to live in southern Florida and listened to his local radio show quite a bit. He has sort of an irreverent shtick and doesn't take himself too seriously.

He is a bit of a "pot-stirrer" and likes to ask the questions no one else brings up or thinks to ask, which doesn't mean they are always the right or fair questions to bring up in the first place, this tiff with Bilas being a perfect example.

I personally don't find him nearly as obnoxious as Skip Bayless, whom I think would declare the sky is red, just to start an argument and get some attention for himself.

Skip Bayless can die a fiery death as far as I'm concerned. He will say anything to get a rise out of somebody.

No kidding. When he and Woody Paige go at it on Cold Pizza, (First Take) I just can't wait to change the channel. Talk about full of themselves.

Re: Props to Bilas!

That was LeBatard-ed!!

Generally, I am no fan of the Dukies...But lots of credit to Bilas for that. Actually, I think Bilas is one of the best college commentators out there. He is very insightful, without all the nonsense (Dickie V).

Re: Props to Bilas!

I really like Jay Bilas, and I'm not a fan of Le Batard, but was it really that stupid?

I think the way Dan went about it was stupid. He was trying to imply that NBA executives are racist. That's stupid.

However, bringing up the issue of the lack of white Americans being stars in the league is not, in my opinion. Some have recently made an issue of the lack of African Americans in MLB. How would this be different?

Re: Props to Bilas!

I like how it ended...

"You can't start a sentence with 'No offense' and then say this is stupid."

"Ok, then take offense."

Lebatard: "Jay, you can't start a sentence with no offense and then say its stupid."
Bilas: "Ok then, take offense, its stupid."
