Tim recently said that one of the big benefits of being at USC was that he could go watch games and recruits at practices, and still be home for dinner. Now, if you remember what his wife Beverly looks like, I'm thinking that USC has one huge advantage.
Besides, he has an immense amount of talent returning next season (even more than OKState does), and the #2 player in the class coming in in Demar DeRoazan. As long as OSU doesn't have Gary call Tim up, I don't think he'll go anywhere.

At USC he has a chance to really build a monster program if he stays put. I don't see any reason other than money for him to go to OSU, and even that it would have to be a serious offer for him to leave what he's got started. Hard to blame him when he is getting double and triple his salary at the new places. But I agree with you on him being an excellent coach.

However I am curious as to what empirical evidence you believe puts him in the "top 5 coaches in all of college ball"?
I believe he is a pretty decent coach but I don't think he has ever taken a team past the Sweet 16 and I believe he has only taken two teams as far as that (one ISU team and one USC team). As I think of it, off the top of my head, I can think of a number of coaches that I would put above him...heck, he isn't even the best coach in LA...that is Ben Howland.
Others that I believe are clearly ahead of him are Billy Donovan, Coach K, Bill Self, Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, Lute Olson, Calipari, Pitino, Jim Calhoun...and that is just a quick list of people that I would say are ahead of him without much of an argument at all. I can think of a bunch of others that you might get into a little argument but probably have stronger resume's than Timmy. |
I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Like Jeremy said, he hasn't stayed in one place long enough to build any big momentum just yet.

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.
No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Self, Floyd, and now isn't that Calipari on page 1 of their "hot list" board?
Floyd would never leave So Cal, he loves being able to go anywhere and not be mobbed by fans, and recruit by car so he can be home for dinner.
And Calipari-he may want to be in a power conference, but I don't see him moving to Stillwater from Memphis |
Mind the gap!

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.
"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

Same goes for when he took over USC. Once again I think he is a very good coach, but he hasn't even shown he is a top 15 coach. Remember his last season at ISU? And besides Fizer, he didn't leave the cupboard stocked for ISU
