NBA Defections

Is this just dumb, or what? When Derrick Rose declares for the draft, Tyreke Evans signs with the Tigers, thinking he'll fill Rose's spot, lead them to a national title, then follow him to the NBA. Then the rest of the Memphis starters go pro (Eustachy must be licking his lips).

Augustin going pro is kind of understandable, but Abrams following him is dumb after he struggled. Haven't either of them notices the "success" of recent undersized UT point guards who have left early?

Darrell Arthur, who could have been the key to KU returning to the Final Four as a star centerpiece with the youngsters who will be up front next year, went pro after averaging something like 10ppg and 5 rpg. Chalmers, who is undersized and hasn't experience as a pure point, went pro. What are these guys thinking?

The list goes on and on...

Re: NBA Defections

Many of these guys haven't hired an agent, ensuring they can come back to college ball. I bet a lot of them will.

Chalmers said that if he isn't going in the first round, he will return to KU.

I saw that the ENTIRE starting lineup of Memphis declared, but it is likely that two of them come back.

TJ Ford is averaging 12 points and 6 assists for the Raptors.
Daniel Gibson is averaging 10 points and shooting 44 percent for 3-pt for the Cavs.

Re: NBA Defections

Eespecially in the case of Abrams, or any other Junior, why wouldn't you declare? If you don't hire an agent you can always come back. Why not declare, go to some camps, see what the scouts want, what you need to work on, then come back, seems like a win win...
