Hansbrough coming back for senior year...Lawson and Ellington going pro

ESPN - Hansbrough returning to UNC; Ellington, Lawson enter draft - NBA

Also noticed today that Lyons and Carroll are going to try and test the waters. I see this more as them going to see what they need to do to improve on which probably is a good idea. Alot of underclassmen are testing the waters this year.

im not really surprised with that. Had they won the NC then i think hansbrough would have gone Pro.... although i dont think he will do much in the nba.
He is a perfect example of a a great college player, probably not a great nba player imo

I agree, I don't see him being able to bang around down low in the nba like he does now. Nice to see that a kid can pass on money for education.

Smart move on his part - he doesn't have a big pro future. Same with Kevin Love IMO.

I don't know the details, but I heard his family is doing ok, so he really doesn't need the money immediately.

Hansbrough works hard and plays with a lot of intensity; however, he gets out of control too much. Fortunately for him, he seems to have a great relationship with the officials. He won't get the benefit of those calls in the NBA.

After getting schooled by the Kansas big men I think he realized he wasn't close to ready to bang with the big boys. Had they never matched up with Kansas I think he would have declared, but his stock slipped in that game.

While he may not be a star, he will definately be a 1st round (maybe lottery pick). The NBA wil always draft the tall hustle guys. Guys willing to the the dirty work. Think of a Mark Madsen career with more FG's. Mark Madsen made a pretty good career out being a hustle guy.

Re: Hansbrough coming back for senior year...Lawson and Ellington going pro

looking at all the juniors who are going to the draft this year and not hiring agents it makes me wonder if WJ will try it next year so he can see what he needs to improve on. I think as long as he comes back for his senior year it would be great for him and hopefully push him to improve his game to the next level for his senior year.

I kind of hope Hansbrough can make it in the pros. I love watching him play, not for his skills, because he never looks like he knows whats going on.

Re: Hansbrough coming back for senior year...Lawson and Ellington going pro

I think when they ammend the age rule they need to just make all juniors and seniors draft eligable, similar to baseball, then sophmores would have to 'declare' for the draft. It makes sense for any junior worth anything to declare now just to test the waters so why not remove the formality...

If Raef LaFrentz, Udonis Haslem, Eric Dampier, etc. can make $12-$17 million per year in the NBA....Hansbrough can too.

Re: Hansbrough coming back for senior year...Lawson and Ellington going pro

I love Hansbrough's intensity and non-stop hustle! I hope some of our players have observed him closely...
However, I must add this, in agreeing with LindenCy: you show me a player who decides to stay in school and "passes up the money" for now, and I'll show you a player from at least an upper-middle class family, who doesn't want for much.

I agree with the people who like his hustle and intensity. With that being said he puts up the most garbage, off balanced ugly shots. Fortunately for him, they seem to find their way in the goal a lot.
