ISU grads - what do you miss most about ISU?

Another thread got me thinking, what do ISU grads miss most about ISU?

I'm not talking about "missing" meaning that it is no longer around (like ISU baseball or men's swimming) but instead something that you cherish about your ISU days that you miss now that you are in the working world.

Mine would be:

1) cheap tickets to ISU games
2) opportunity to walk across the street to attend nearly any game
3) big name concerts
4) central campus on sunny spring days

Things I probably shouldn't talk about now that I am married...

Halloween Parties...
Keg Shop Fire Sale...
Darts and Karaoke at Mickeys, coming in through Minsky's...

People's Bar and Grill. I love the one in Des Moines but it's not the same. To go hand in hand with that live local music like Kentucky Fried Mullet and The Nadas.

The best times I can/can't remember involve Kentucky Fried Mullet at People's on Thursday nights for redneck night, especially the Thursday nights that the NCAA was on right after Spring Break...single tear

I think I scheduled one semester's classes around The Price is Right.

The thing I miss most about ISU..... being young. Enjoy it while you can.

Other than that, the social interaction; the parties, the rec center, classes, basically the process of learning that there was more to the world than the little corner you grew up in.

Gotta love Fire Sale beer/beverages. I do miss the being able to wake up and decide (or decide the night before) that I am going to have a "personal day" today.

I also miss having many different intramurals to be in, and doing stuff as the Rec.

Dorm floor events - putt-putt golf in the hallways; canoeing; Ledges State Park visits; Primal yell contests between Friley and Helser during dead week.

Being able to stay at Welch all night, regardless if it was a Monday, Tuesday, etc. to drink beer, eat wings and watch the Cubs.

I also loved living in Ames and biking around campus and the city.

I also miss spring break down south which have a whole new perspective of now that I have a daughter...she will never be allowed to go on spring break, ever.

God I miss college...
