man, for someone posting a hypothetical question that would seem pretty safe he sure is getting a lot of flaming. Not gonna lie, it is kinda ridiculous. Gonna have to +rep him just cause I feel bad for him. Didn't any of your mothers tell you if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it at all? Who's flaming? Nobody's flaming. A few of us just expressed that the hypothetical question just may not have been at the best time. Nothing against the poster, as I'm sure he didn't intend it to be that way. It's just some of us are a little testy after having family, friends, or been personally been affected by what's happening in the east.

Just a reminder to everyone, this is a hypothetical question, not about the flood. The flood just got this poster thinking about who would you cheer for if your team wasn't around anymore.

As a Minnesota Twins fan, I was nearly faced with this decision several years back with the whole Bud Selig contraction threat. I had a real hard time when thinking about that, thankfully I never actually had to find a new team to root for.
Hard to tell who I'd root for if ISU for some reason no longer had sports. Perhaps Colorado, as my brother went to grad school there. Recently I had been rooting for Michigan because a high school classmate of mine played there. But he was drafted this year, so I probably won't pay much attention to them anymore.
Also, to everyone giving the original poster guff, give it a rest. There was nothing wrong with what he asked. If you want to get testy about it then don't read the thread.

Hmmm none in all reality. I'm a Cyclone fan because I went there. University of Maryland is around... so I have positive feelings for them but I don't see myself as a Terp.
Maybe Texas... I see their logo everywhere I go... I saw several different Longhorn shirts at the freak'n Balitmore Orioles game Saturday!!!

While I don't really agree with SH's stance on the question, I think he's just trying to say that it may fall into the category of "Too Soon?"
No harm was intended, and we all know it's not gonna happen, but it might just be too soon.

Anyways, I guess I'll answer this question under the assumption that for some reason, Iowa athletics vanished into the night. Texas would be my team. HOOK 'EM HORNS!

I'm only concerned with Cyclones destroying the U of I on the playing fields.

If the flood was bad enough to take out Kinnick and the entire Iowa campus wouldn't most of the state be totally destroyed as well? Isn't Kinnick fairly elevated?

Yes, I'm an ISU Alum and Hawkeye fan...get over it.
