Saw We Are Marshall and was trying to think of other tragedies. Other than our CC team, Marshall, and the recent baseball accident, I can't think of others...
Ghoulish topic, but just curious what other tragedies have befallen other schools...

Was it Evansville that lost the Men's BB Team in a plane crash (early 80's)?
Also, more recently, an Oklahome State women's team maybe.

It was a cold, gray, and windy day. The campus was pretty much empty. I thought I had class but when I got there it was canceled for the services. It really was one of those days where things did not feel right in the world. The next day I saw a picture of Bonnie Sons crying at the podium. I felt very sad about the entire situation.

the University of Wyoming suffered an enormous tragedy as well with their cross country team. It hardly made a blip on the national news because it happened the week after 9/11. 8 athletes were lost in a head-on collison on US 287 south of Laramie... the other vehicle was driven by another UW student who was on the rodeo team....
