Ohio U. lineman matches five numbers, wins $250,000
ESPN - Ohio U. lineman matches five numbers, wins $250,000 - College Football
ATHENS, Ohio -- Most lottery winners, upon learning they've hit the jackpot, run to the store where they played their lucky numbers to make sure, then find the nearest state lottery commission office to place a claim on their prize.
Michael Eynon did all of those things. And then he went to football practice.
Eynon, a senior offensive lineman at Ohio University, matched five numbers in Tuesday's multi-state Mega Millions drawing on the ticket he bought at a Shop Mart in Athens -- good for $250,000 before taxes, the Columbus Dispatch reported.
If he were a Cyclone I'm sure this would be an NCAA infraction.

Interesting situation. What if some booster slipped a winning ticket worth a few thousand under the door to a player?

I would bet their alumni association has his number and will be calling for a donation! -

Wouldn't the lottery be considered gambling and therefore illegal by the NCAA?

if it was an infraction, then he would just quit the team, odds are he's not an nfl prospect, so 250,000 would be well worth it.

Remember when Drew Tate won a car at a golf outing but couldn't accept it because of NCAA regulations. Looking back at it he probably should have taken the car.

Edit: I found it on the Big 12 website. It was Zac Robinson from OSU.

I don't see why this would be an infraction. Every student at the university has the opportunity to purchase that ticket.
As far as the Tate situation, he was there because he was a member of the football team. He did not pay to play in the tournament therefore his winning the car would have been an infraction.
