OK, so my first ballot is due Monday, but I went ahead and cobbled together a preliminary ballot, since I can edit it. I'd like to think the hundred or so of us that take part do a good job. It's supposed to be mainly resume based, with a strong emphasis on strength of schedule, but we're supposed to rank mainly based on talent at this point.
Here's what I've got so far, scheduled to go live on the blog at 5 AM tomorrow. Since thousands don't visit there daily, I figured I'd post it here for feedback.
1 Georgia
2 Ohio State
3 Oklahoma
4 Southern Cal
5 Florida
6 Missouri
7 LSU
8 Texas
9 Auburn
10 Clemson
11 West Virginia
12 Kansas
13 Virginia Tech
14 Texas Tech
15 Tennessee
16 Wisconsin
17 Illinois
18 Oregon
19 Penn State
20 Arizona State
21 Brigham Young
22 Wake Forest
23 Utah
24 Rutgers
25 South Florida

I also have questions about Kansas, but not enough for either team to rank them much lower.

Where is EIU? Oh, their players are now at Greybar University.
| EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl. |

I don't like Kansas this year. They tore through a horrible schedule last year, before getting beat by Missouri, and they've got a pretty brutal one this year. I think they are more a 20-25 team this year - still good, just not top 15.
Call me crazy, but I'd swap Missouri and Oklahoma - or at least move Missouri up a bit.

Call me crazy, but I'd swap Missouri and Oklahoma - or at least move Missouri up a bit. The only thing that kept me from that was how the two did against each other last year, and the fact that I do think OU has more talent.

Talent != wins. Take a look at ND last year. Missouri has plenty of talent floating around from last year - and almost all of it is very experienced. And, while the OU/Missouri game was ugly, I think it's all the more reason that Missouri will be better this year than they were last. They have the confidence that they can get there - and win on a big stage, they just need to get that championship.

South Florida is a top 10 team IMO. Kansas has a brutal schedule and I will be shocked if they live up to a #12 ranking. But its not a bad spot for them to start the year.

South Florida is a candidate to move up, but I'm not sure that much.
