Collegefootballnews.com has picked " ISU" the team that will surprise in the Big 12. They cited: a)2nd year of Chizik's system b)Easier schedule will result in a improved results.
Nebraska is the team that will "disappoint". They are saying Pelini has a ton of work ahead of him and this year will be rough.

I am now a fan of Collegefootballnews.com. Any website that says positive things about us and negative things about the Fuskers is ok in my book. | |

Let me see if I've got a pattern figured out here:
1) The earliest prognostications pegged us dead last, with with only comments being things like "They have lost 4-yr record-breaking starters at both QB and WR," and no further research than that.
2) As we get closer to the season, and these people have the chance to do some research, we are rising in their estimation, and they are starting to notice that a storm is brewing here in the Cyclone State.
Did I miss anything? That sure seems to be the trend in these articles to me.

CFN always does a good job!!! One of the very few who actually seem to do some research.
Anyone else notice on the ISU preview they have us going 6-6 with us winning the first 2 games, losing to EIU, then running off 4 straight victories?

- Passing TDs: Opponents 24 – Iowa State 9
- Time of possession: Iowa State 32:50 – Opponents 27:09 I don't know, but two of those weren't really fun stats. |

It's nice to see some good press, but positive articles are no more credible than negative ones. Once 8/28 hits, none of it will matter.
We need to perform when it counts. I think we should all expect (and will see) a much-improved football team this year.

If you look at the games they have highlighted as wins, Nebraska is highlighted for us and we are highlighted for them. Since they predict that we'll go 6-6, and if you add up all the highlighted games for us you get 7 wins, I'm guessing they actually have us losing to NU. The probably wrestled back and forth with it and decided to give the win to NU so that they wouldn't finish dead last in the North. As it is now, they have us, Kansas State, and Nebraska all tied for 4th place in the North with 3-5 records. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

I think we have a good chance to beat KU.
a) It's in Ames
b) We have 2 weeks to get ready
I'm not saying we'll win, but we will have our chances.

I know it's worked in the past, but more often than not it doesn't.

Very generous prediction. As I've been looking at the schedule, it's been looking more like 4-8 or 5-7. I don't think we'll beat OSU on the road, but Baylor looks feasible. Just the apparent strength of the Big 12 this year has me worried. A 4-8 record this year would have been 6-6 other years.
