CJ Henry to play bball at Memphis

Xavier Henry's older brother, a former first round MLB draft pick, is going to play basketball in the winter for Memphis, while still playing baseball in the minors in the summer. IMO, just a move to try and get Xavier, a consensus top five player who's dad played at KU.

Is that legal? How can that be legal? They won't let the skier from Colorado play football and ski because he was making money.

I know Chris Winkie did something like this but he wasn't playing in the minors when he was at FSU.

Re: CJ Henry to play bball at Memphis

KU fans are definitely thinking they are out of the running for Xavier now and they are pretty bummed about it. CJ hasn't panned out as a baseball player yet any most are thinking his window of opportunity is pretty much done there.

CJ and Xavier's dad played basketball at KU and most fans wanted them both to play at KU. CJ commited to KU in high school as well prior to pursuing baseball.

Jeremy Bloom accepted endorsement money and that is not kosher.

Jeff Smarasdasdfjaklsdjlafejhfja (no idea how to spell it) for the Cubs did this like two years ago - pitched in the minors, played football at ND during the school year.

You can get paid for playing one sport professionally while pursuing another sport in college if they are not the same sport and you are not accepting endorsements based on my understanding.

Doug Johnson, Kenny Kelly, Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson... They all played college football and pro baseball...

So the endorsement was the key. Thank You. While I still don't think this makes sense I guess what the NCAA would say is you can't say the endorsement was based on the preformance in one sport vs. the other.

If you can explain to me how Lucca did something wrong by playing on a team that had (almost) paid players, while American kids play on summer leagues with pro-players all the time - then I'll agree that the NCAA makes sense.

The NCAA doesn't have to make sense because the regulate themselves. They will never make sense to any of us.

Elmer Robinson played a year of minor league baseball before playing basketball for ISU back in the 80's

Mind the gap!
