Lute Done?

ESPN - Source: Lute Olson to step down as Universtity of Arizona coach

Apparently Lute might be stepping down. I think this is slightly weird considering the fiasco that was last season for AZ and the interm coach.

And the fact that Lute as offered multiple middleschoolers which would have made him about 85 by the time they got done.

This is very interesting. Did it ever come out why he stepped down last year? He must not have liked the direction the interm coach was taking it because he made him leave when he came back.

"Personal reasons", many of which are assumed to be his divorce from him ex-wife and subsequent proposal to a new chick. However I really don't know a thing about him and so that's as much as I would really care to know about Lute's personal life.

My uncle is a big booster down at U of A. Lute had a bunch of boosters pushing him out the door. My uncle is actually in the U of A hall of fame. Played d-back there in the 60's.

Funny story. My uncles high school football coach was none other than our Johnny Orr.

I still remember how much Iowa fans loved Lute when he was a Hawk..and he is a great coach in my opinion. There was a bumper sticker and chant that went: Lute, Lute, Lute!!!
When he decided to leave and go to Arizona I remember seeing many bumper stickers (probably Cyclone fans) that went..
Lute, Lute, Lute...Gone, Gone, Gone

I'm sorry to hear about Lute having health problems. I think everything that has happened over the last year as pretty much screwed AZ in the short term but Lute probably didn't have much of a choice if he had a stroke. Best of luck to him.
