If his players don't bring their A games to the Los Angeles Coliseum, Weis said they will be "asking for a massacre." Carroll might just be the man to do it, too. For one, he could use a high-profile blowout for his BCS cause. For two, he couldn't have been thrilled with the trash-talking Weis did upon landing the Notre Dame job. As New England's outgoing offensive coordinator, Weis used the days leading up to the Patriots' Super Bowl victory over the Eagles to warn the major college heavyweights that their time in the sun was up. "Now let them try to stop a pro-style offense," Weis said. "Let's see how they're going to do. They've had their advantage, because I came into recruiting late. But now it's Xs and Os time. Let's see who has the advantage now."

Re: Weiss out at Notre Dame if he loses? Or what goes around comes around.
I was listening to 1700am during my lunch break and they were talking about it. No way does Weiss get the ax regardless how he does against USC. The guy on 1700 said Weiss has 7 yrs on his contract at around $3mill/yr so even though Notre Dame pockets are deep, do you really think they are going to fork over $21 million and then ante up to get the next great coach in there.
Unless this guys facts are wrong, he won't be leaving anytime soon IMO.
Edit: Just read the link above. Lot of differences in that article vs. what I was hearing on 1700am??????/

• Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said offensive coordinator Mike Haywood, who normally is in the coaches box, will coach from the sideline against USC so he is more available to help inspire players during the game. Receivers coach Rob Ianello or quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus will be upstairs.
''I'm a hands-on guy,'' Haywood said. ''I can help create some passion and excitement and emotion and make sure everybody is on the same page.''
