IF I RULED the NCAA-Playoffs and New Conferences
Let me know what you think of this. I realize this could never happen. But I think this would produce a pretty good playoff system. My idea was to reorganize every conference geographically. The result was it seemed to distribute the good teams more evenly, there are a few strong divisions and a couple weaker. I think it makes more sense economically and makes it easier for fans to travel to away games.For example ISU would play minnesota rather than texas.
- 10 Conferences
- 12 teams in each conference (one conference would have 11)
- 2 divisions in each conference
- Conference Champ would be determined by Championship game
- Playoffs
- 10 Conference champs + 2 at large bids
- Top 4 ranked teams would receive a 1st round bye
- The conferences are attached, I basically just chose who I thought would win each conference
We would be in the Midwest conference
Eastern Division
Iowa
Illinois
Northwestern
Northen Illinois
Purdue
Wisconsin
Western Division
ISU
Kansas
Kansas State
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska

I appreciate someone with alot of time on their hands. Looks pretty good. But seriously the Conference Championship games have got to go.

yes, i did this at work in an attempt to kill time, and it took way longer than I ever thought it would

You do realize that the proposed division is only a one team difference from the current Big XII North, right? And Nebraska hasn't exactly been lighting up the stage.

This is the sort of thing that would be the best bet at making D1A football "fair" in terms of a playoff.
