Dr. Lou is the man.
He has been that way for awhile. How he keeps his ESPN job is unknown.
he just blew a gasket on espn - Corso and May were absolutely making fun of him.
How what did he do?
He might have interesting things to say, but I can't stand to hear any of it because of all the marbles he keeps in his mouth.
A couple of things about Lou Holtz:
Why is he doing this job?? I mean seriously? I figured he should retire from South Carolina, write another book, and enjoy retirement. I feel bad for the guy because he looks like an idiot on TV and I know he's not. Maybe he was that desperate for money. IDK
- He used to be considered one of the best coaches in the history of the sport.
- How he finished at South Carolina ruined a lot of that
- His job at ESPN isn't helping his image and is making it worse
- He's biased. Working for a network and being an analyst, you aren't supposed to have specific biases (Notre Dame, East Carolina, South Carolina, etc)
- He doesn't communicate well to a general audience. He might've been a good football mind, but he doesn't have a good general knowledge mind
he was going on about his bs 4 rules of leadership and 3 rules of winning and Corso said, "wow, we get this for free? normally you charge a lot of money for your speeches and books. I heard this speech 20 years ago..."
Didn't every school Lou Holtz coach at get in trouble with him and he left thereafter or the school got in trouble after he left and all the bad things he did were found out? Think 'm right on this
Lou has good reasons for being biased and he always has fun when he gives his picks. Whenever he picks ECU its because he wont have dinner waiting for him when he gets home if he doesnt. He also became one of the most winningest coaches in the NCAA coaching at ND, so I'll give him that one too. I really dont think he has too much bias towards South Carolina though, in fact, I wouldnt be surprised if he took Iowa over them.
While were on the subject of bias, lets talk Mark May. The man is like the Dick Vitale of college football and USC is his Duke. IMO he says more ridiculous things than Holtz and has nothing to back them up. For instance: One of the mock court things they had on ESPN Lou and Mark were discussing teams with 4 losses being in the BCS because they won their conference. Lou made his point (I couldnt tell you what it was because I couldnt understand) and all may had to say was that these teams were a disgrace to the BCS bowls. IMO, if a 4 loss Missouri beat Oklahoma, they have every bit as much right to be in a BCS bowl as any of the other teams.
Lou is a very smart coach, an incredible man and is very, very, VERY passionate about college football.
I like Lou.
