Just noticed that the Cotton Bowl is being played on Jan. 2nd at 1pm. Why are they playing the game on Friday (non-holiday) when it would fall into a normal work week day?
What was wrong with playing all the games on Jan 1? They have stretched the games out too much and have lost the appeal.
I'm glad they are spreading them out. Makes it easier to watch more of them. I'm guessing like most sports scheduling decisions, it was driven by the networks.
I don't mind them being stretched out, but I would prefer they just start them earlier in December, leading up to Jan. 1 (BCS games) and then play the National Championship the next night. I don't like some smaller bowls in January; seems like too long of wait.
IMO, college football needs to be done by January 1. I don't really mind if the bowls get played during the week of the 1st, but dragging it out into the next week is too long. The whole thing seems too disconnected from the regular season. January is BB/wrestling time...
That's my biggest issue. The long layoff is just odd. It's "tradition" or whatever - but not always easy to come back to it.Quote:
