    Rankings question

Consdier this scenario (however unlikely it could be):

OU barely beats Florida in an ugly ugly game with lots of turnovers, miscues ect. Say they win 6-3 or something.

Texas Rips Ohio State by 5+ TDs
USC Rips Penn State by 5+ TDs

Would Texas or USC be #1 at the end of the year, or would that look really bad for the BCS and it'd never happen?

Does the winner of Alabama-Utah have a shot?

    just curious what others think.

    Re: Rankings question

I think you would have to give it to Boise State by default

    Re: Rankings question

IMO, very unlikely, but if Utah beats Alabama - especially if it's by a decent margin - they deserve something - regardless of how any other game plays out.

As for the other stuff - who knows. I hate this system.

The AP is seperate from the BCS and isn't tied to naming the same national champion.

Would be really interesting if an undefeated Utah rips Alabama...

    Re: Rankings question

I just want to see this system become even more of a cluster-you-know-what. I want somehow for someone else to be #1. I would love it.

This is why college basketball is my favorite over college football.

    Re: Rankings question

Well, for those that want a playoff system (raises hand), they should really root hard for this. Especially for Utah to win and do it in convincing fashion.

I think that even if they win big, there is no way voters would put them above the winner of the title game, or a couple of the other BCS games.

And that for almost all reasons is pathetic.

    Re: Rankings question

I would absolutely love to see that happen, but the NCAA has a gigantic thumb on the scale called the Harris poll, and so it won't.
