Mountain West Proposes 8 Team Playoff

They had me up until they said they wanted an automatic berth as well. I do like the qualifiers though.

"Under the proposal that would start in 2010, the standings that decide the 10 teams playing in the five BCS games would be determined by a 12-member committee consisting of one representative from the 11 Division I-A (FBS) conference and one from Notre Dame."

Are you kidding me? This is a joke right? I mean the Notre Dame thing.

That was also pretty rough. Obviously it would be setup like the selection committees for basketball, so why not replace the Notre Dame rep with a rep from all the Independents?

Oh yeah, that's right, Notre Dame had some good years once and now has the NCAA by the balls.

I support a playoff if we can jettison all the mid-majors into a separate division.

That is stupid. Would Utah have won the National Championship this year? Probably not. It would have been fun to watch them try though.

Imagine slaying Alabama one week and then trying to do the same to Oklahoma.
