However in this case it is totally right. Playoff hockey is some of the most intense competition in sports. I don't care to watch it on TV in the regular season, but I love games in person. And playoff hockey is must see TV, especially a game 7.
That said, for me the NCAA Tourney is tops, with Bowl season a close second. A CFB tourney and it moves up to number one.
..... Soccer still sucks.

..... Soccer still sucks. Hockey is much, much better in person than it is on TV. You can hear the players shouting to each other, the skates hissing on the ice...everything is just much clearer. For whatever reason, hockey doesn't translate to TV all that well.

For whatever reason, unless you are familiar with the game, it's almost impossible to follow the puck on TV. Fox tried to solve this problem a decade ago with FoxTrax, and they got laughed at.

Right, but you don't have to watch many hockey games to figure out whats going on, what certain calls are and whatnot. You're right about the puck being hard to follow, and FoxTrax was a disaster.

NBA basketball is plain unwatchable.

I can't even skate, but I love watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. Every team plays so desperately and intensely - everything is ramped up two or three levels from the regular season. I love it.

I'm with you on this one. I'd never watched a hockey game until I moved to Minneapolis. Tried watching a few Wild playoff games on TV a few years ago and couldn't get into it. Finally went to a game in person and it was WAY more enjoyable. Really impressed by the size and speed of those players. Also found it easier to follow the puck.
My conclusion was the same as yours...TV doesn't do it justice even if you're not a big hockey fan. Still not a big hockey fan, but have a new found appreciation for it and wouldn't pass on tickets to an NHL game.
