Just remember who the home team is...

If UNC plays up to the level of their talent, unlike UCONN or Louisville before them, then they should be able to handle Michigan State with ease. But for some reason, teams are having troubles with Michigan State. I suppose you can chalk that up to Izzo, even though it hurts me to admit it...

Or maybe Michigan St is as talented as the Big East teams they have beaten! I know it's crazy to think that, but people have been underestimating them for 3 straight weeks now.
Michigan St has been to more final 4's than any other team over the past 10 years. That includes UNC, KU, Duke, etc. MSU has an exceptional talent base and their coaching staff is very good.
I would not be surprised to see them win this game. Lawson and Lucas will be a very good matchup. MSU has some very good freshman big guys that can bang down low with Hansbrough.
Shoudl be a good game
BIG TEN IS A LOT BETTER THAN PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD WANT TO ADMIT. Penn St rolled through the NIT with ease, probably should have been in the NCAA.

Michigan State is a very good team. That does not mean the Big Ten is good, it means that there is one good team in what is overall a poor conference.
Purdue is an average team. They would be in the middle of the pack in the Big 12 or SEC, and below average in the ACC.
Ohio State couldn't beat Siena.
Penn State lost to Temple, Rhode Island, and Iowa, among others. Losing to sucky teams kept them deservedly out of the NCAA.
Illinois couldn't beat Western Kentucky.
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, all bounced from the tournament, just like Ohio State and Illinois. Wisconsin and Minnesota never should have been in there in the first place.
Northwestern, Iowa, and Indiana are all jokes.
Michigan State being in the final game does not mean the Big Ten is good. It means Michigan State is good. Big Ten basketball has nothing except for Michigan State.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -
Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
UNC should win, but I think Michigan St. has a decent chance, especially at home. :)

Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
The game is UNC's to lose. If they play to their potential, it would take a nearly perfect game by MSU to beat them. That being said, MSU has played nearly perfect against KU, Louisville, and UConn.

Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
UNC by 18 pts. you read it here 1st! The home field advantage ends.

Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
"IF" N. Carolina gets out in front and stays that way... I really don't think the crowd will be a factor. It's a huge "if" ,but I'm not to sure the crowd will be as loud as long as Carolina takes 'em out of it. I'll take North Carolina anyway... 85-75

Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
UNC beat them by 35 in December in Michigan so I don't think the supposed "home court" is going to help much.
That said...it will be closer than 35 points. I say UNC is up by 8-12 for most the game and puts it away with FTs at the end to win by 16.

Re: N.Carolina vs. Michigan St.
Big 10 is NOT better than I want to admit. I gave them TOO MUCH credit all season long. Besides MSU they suck. Just like football and OSU. And MSU doesn't win yesterday if they don't play in front of 60K people cheering for them
