    re: Conference debate

It certainly looks reasonable to me. You certainly can't argue about the SEC being the top conference based on how well they have done in national championship games and BCS bowls. Their top tier appears to be as good or better than anybody out there. The Big 12 depends on a lot of factors. If Nebraska returns to prominence, it certainly will help the conference's overall status. A better than expected Missouri team wouldn't hurt either, nor would a top-ten season by Okie State.

Finally someone is willing to recognize that the Mountain West has probably surpassed the Big East in overall strength. There is no question that the gap between the supposed power conferences and the remainder of the conferences, especially the Mountain West, has narrowed considerably over the past few seasons.

Agree for the most part. A little bit surprised that the ACC is ahead of the Pac 10, but then no one sees the Pac 10 games much besides the USC games, so....

    Florida...........>...........Texas
    Alabama........<...........OU
    Ole Miss........=...........OSU (very close)?
    LSU..............>............Kansas
    Georgia........<.............Nebraska
    South Car.....<............Texas Tech

    Tennessee....>.............Texas A&M
    Kentucky......<.............Iowa State
    Auburn..........>.............Baylor

I think thats how each conference would rank on neutral sites. The bottom half is just speculation obviously, and its really a toss up to me. Interesting matchups though. Thoughts?

    re: Conference debate

    I couldn't agree more!

And I will say it till I am blue in the face - You want a playoff system? Take the true conference champaions (figure it out big ten) and have them play a 4 game series.
    Make it OBJECTIVE not SUBJECTIVE
Make the non-conference schedule irrelevent (spur on better games because they won't hurt them in the final rankings)

Just one guys thought....maybe this needs it's own thread

    Yep, I agree.

The Big 10 can be proud that they narrowly beat out the Mountain West.

    Georgia better than Neb
South Carolina and Texas T will both be down

If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

Hate to break it to you... but South Carolina wasn't any good last year either.

I'm surprised that ESPN let their blogger paint the Mountain West in any sort of light...I thought they couldn't bring up small-money schools unless there was a controversy involving bigger ones

The best way to do that is by taking every team in a conference and counting every team they are 'better than' from the other conference. Add up total points for each team in the confernce and combine each conference's teams points totals and then compare the two conferences.
