I was listening to 1130AM, KFAN in Minneapolis this morning (local sports talk station). Paul Allen (9AM - 12PM show) said that Tim Brewster told the entire Gopher football team and staff that they are not allowed to talk to anyone from KFAN or do any interviews because Brewster didn't like the way KFAN treated him and his team!!

I could hardly believe what I was hearing! This is the primary local sports talk station in Minneapolis and about the only way the Gopher fans can hear interviews with players and coaches.

Is it just me or does this seem like something a 6th grade girl would do/say??........"Suzie was talking behind my back so I'm not going to talk to her ever again; and, if you're my friend, neither will you...."

I just can't believe that someone who has been involved in football (pro & college) for so long would be so thin-skinned! Grow a pair!

I would be completely embarrased in CPR did something like this!

So imagine you are a high profile coach and a local radio show talks smack about you and your team, would you give them the honor of being part of their show? I sure as heck wouldn't i would boycott them also. In fact I would make it a point to appear on their competitor as often as they would have me.

Guess I didn't hear anything on the PowerTrip this morning and I can't stream radio at work, but did PA talk about what was said?

All I ever hear from anyone on KFAN is how sweet TCF Bank Stadium is, and making fun of Brewster for flying helicopters

That's kind of the problem.....there really isn't a competitor and KFAN hasn't said anything worse about the Gophers than ISU gets on KXNO.

Do you think it would be a good move (PR or otherwise) for McDermott or Rhoads to refuse to talk with KXNO staff and not let his coaches/players talk with them either?

I guess I just don't see it the same way as you....doesn't make any sense to me. (Probably one of the many reasons why I'm sitting at a keyboard instead of doing what those guys do)

I like it. Makes the hosts who talk crap actually have to suffer consequences for running there mouths. These sports talk guys never have to suffer from what they say. They just get to say it. They talk about people and have no repercusions. Guess Brewster decided to give them some.

I would have to know more about the history between KFAN and TIm Brewster/Gopher football. If Brewster has good reasons, I see nothing wrong with it.

Speaking of Brewster, I about died this morning when I read a quote of his in the paper. Paraphrasing:

"Why do I like my team to have white shoes? Because I like speed."
