I think the other Michigan players jumping around pointing the other direction probably influenced the officials' decision as well. It shouldn't, but that's why coaches teach their players to do it.

Speaking as a high school official, only one thing goes through your mind during the game: that you make the right call.
Now that every game is recorded by video, an official's only thought is that the tape backs him up. Nothing else - who is favored, the crowd, the coaches, blah, blah, matters. You want the video tape to support your call. -

One of the most blasphemous calls I've ever seen. I went nuts when they gave the ball to Michigan and I don't give a hoot about either team.

My point was that officials are not swayed or motivated by the crowd, or the prestige of the team, or who the coach is. You're just not.
When you're sitting in the meeting room watching game tapes with your crew and/or your supervisor, nothing matters except did you the right call.

It was dual possession at the very worst when both players hit the ground. The fact it took several seconds for Michigan player to wrestle the ball away from Indiana player is clear evidence of that.

Just when I thought Big 10+1 officials had improved they pull this. TERRIBLE CALL !!!
