I agree with what both cybsball20 and fickclone are saying.
I will also add for those who keep chiming in that BSU needs to change conferences, how are they supposed to do that when they can't get any one to even play them in one game?

After seeing BS take down some good teams the last few years, I would be worried about playing them. Point in proof is Oregon having a shot at winning out and now not being able to play in the national title game this year.

It could be that for cybsball20's reason above, BSU doesn't really want to change conferences. If they can get a a good BCS team scheduled, they can beef up their schedule while still capitalizing on the weak academic requirements...win-win for them.
Does the BCS need to have academic standards for the participating conferences? (I don't know..maybe it already does).

Re: Boise St. hires public relations firm to help with 2011 schedule
A few thoughts:
+Most of the top teams in the BCS conferences already are playing another top team from another BCS conference in their schedule. The formula is pretty simple...8 conference games, 1 BCS non-conference game, and 3 "tin can" non-conference games. To schedule Boise St. most of these teams would have to eliminate one of the "tin can" opponents. That would leave only two "rent-a-win" type games...most coaches are going to oppose that scenario.
+Boise St. can do a lot of sabre rattling about wanting to "play the big boys" but the fact remains that, unlike most BCS conference schools, they have precious few games that are tough once the conference portion of their schedule begins.
+They need to make this offer to these BCS schools for a time frame a little further out. It would be very difficult for most programs to make a major change like this in their schedule on such short notice.
+I would love to see us schedule them...especially if it is a home game. I think it would be a positive for our program...of course this assumes we would win or at least be very competitive.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Boise St. hires public relations firm to help with 2011 schedule
Maybe BS needs to pony up with a great cash deal... let's say they are willing to come to the Jack and pay to play... I mean we got a pretty good deal with the Arrowhead game... why couldn't we ask for some random amount to hose...er...I mean host them?
Something like...oh I don't know....25 Million??
And the minute they leave the field dejected the construction crews roll in and start bowling in the south endzone....
Yeah...I may have had too much Mt. Dew this morning..

Does the BCS need to have academic standards for the participating conferences? (I don't know..maybe it already does). I think it is because of the academic standards (and other reasons) that they would never be allowed to join the Pac 10..

Re: Boise St. hires public relations firm to help with 2011 schedule
Boise St will never be asked to join the PAC10 because their academic standards are just above DMACC'S. Their success is based on being able to get the good players that can't get into other schools (a la K-State under snaggletooth). They would have to seriously upgrade their academics to join a BCS conference, then they'd lose the edge that makes them successful now.

Great. Lets give Boise our away games vs UCONN and UTAH and have them find us replacment home games for those dates.

Despite the crappy weather when we played ther Boise has a great climate. Only a handfull of days in winter that don't get at least 40 degrees. Six months of year you can ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon. Boise has population of close to 200K so its got some things to offer. Those facts aside I think when they had early success Hawkins took a lot of chances on players with behavior and academic issues. Luckily for him none blew up in his face. Once they got ball rolling they did a great job of recrutiting.

Re: Boise St. hires public relations firm to help with 2011 schedule
This whole situation is why there needs to be a playoff. Scheduling is always going to be imperfect and unfair for teams in conferences like BSU. To say they need to jump ship to another conference and change all there academic standards and such for the sake of football is beyond rediculous.

As long as we're playing these games...how 'bout a merger? Big West Conference (7th BCS Conference)
East:
BYU
TCU
Utah
Air Force
Idaho
West:
Boise St.
Fresno St.
Hawaii
UNLV
Nevada Cross Country Conference
West:
San Jose St.
San Diego St.
New Mexico
New Mexico St.
East:
LA Tech
Utah St.
Wyoming
Colorado St.

Which is why it will never happen.
