Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
The Fiesta Bowl will take OSU if they beat OU. The Fiesta Bowl is not going to risk alienating the B-12 as the B-12 would most likely push for the Cotton to replace the Fiesta in the BCS.
Iowa and Penn St. both need OSU to lose or they are not going to the Fiesta Bowl.
You guys just don't get it.

Re: Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
A rep from the Fiesta basically confirmed what you are saying (in a DM Register article this week). If Okie State beats OU, they will travel well to Phoenix and create just as much, if not more, national interest to TV viewers than Penn State or Iowa. At least they play an exciting brand of football, if nothing else.

Re: Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
If you don't think the Big 12 is already pushing for the Cotton Bowl to replace the Fiesta Bowl than I don't know what to tell you. The Fiesta Bowl taking a Big 12 team is not going to stop the Big 12 from trying to get a BCS game right in their backyard, and I promise you the Fiesta Bowl personnel is already well aware of this.
The Fiesta Bowl will take the money now, especially in this economy. The way OSU showed up to the game last night, and for every game this season for that matter, is going to hurt them come bowl selections, big time!

Miller accuses people of not projecting Iowa in the BCS of being blinded by their dislike of Iowa. But he does the same thing when saying that Iowa will be there over Penn State/OSU.
To say OSU has no chance (like they did this morning) of making the BCS makes them sound dumb.

Yes jm and sd know everything and we dont know squat...really...I have never listened to these 2 and never will cause all its just a squawk love fest .... -
Re: Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
If people honestly think they would take OSU over Iowa you need to put the pipe down. Iowa travels. OSU does not. End of story.

Actually, it's not but since you haven't listened you must be the expert.

Really!? Maybe if you listened you would know that Deace talks Cyclones (& Michigan) to balance it out. CW was hosting earlier this week with JM & will again next week.

Re: Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
Also, since the BCS began the Fiesta Bowl has selected a team from the Big 12 6 times since 1999. 2 other times the game was the National Championship. That leaves only 3 times (2001, 2005, 2006) has the Fiesta not selected someone from the Big 12.
And of those 3 times, twice they selected Notre Dame (which is a BCS no-brainer).
So in 11 years, the Fiesta has only once selected a team non-Big 12 team not named Notre Dame. And I believe in that year, Texas was picked before they had the chance to pick them.

It isn't 100% about traveling. BCS games are sold out ahead of time. They want TV ratings and advertising.

I think Oklahoma is going to beat OSU anyway and make this whole argument moot anyways.

That being said, Iowa has a much larger fanbase than Ok. State, and would probably draw a much larger national audience, being they are an injured QB away from possibly being undefeated.

It was shoved down our throats for so many years and because of that people see that it has become 2nd rate football. They only won one bowl game last season (yes, it was iowa) so that doesn't help their case. Okie State wins out they are in the Fiesta.

Re: Deace & Miller, you don't get it OSU over Iowa.
This is the one thing I don't get about bowl games. Why don't they just let the best teams play? Why even rank Boise St in the top 10 in bcs if they're not even going to make it to a bcs game?....it all comes down to money I guess, but I'd be fairly mad if my team was better than another team selected to play in the BCS just because they have better fans??? Kind of stupid, and takes away from the actual game.

Boise State travels too. They brought 45,000 fans last time they were in a BCS bowl.
