Re: Notre Dame Losing to UConn in Overtime

Urban Meyer has a better gig now with less pressure. He can get paid the same and have just as good of a chance at titles at Florida as he would at ND.

Brian Kelly would probably be a good fit but you have to wonder if ND would "settle" for him.

Harbaugh would be stupid to leave Stanford. He can make them a constant power in the Pac10 with a legit shot at the Rose Bowl or a BCS game every year and he can be their savior. Very little pressure compared to ND and USC is down right now so a great recruiting chance.

Chip Kelly just doesn't have the name recognition. Great coach, just not to ND's level yet.

Ferentz would be insane to leave to go there with his God-like stature in Iowa City. Besides, it would be harder to cover up crimes at such a high profile job like ND.

Stoops would have a good chance at getting an offer and it could possibly be a good time for him. Next year they're going to have some growing pains at OU and Texas has passed them as the favorite team in the South. With OSU and some other schools gaining traction, it might not be a bad time for Stoops to sneak out.

Gruden would be a flashy name but I just don't think he would fit the job real well. ND is going to try and get a high profile, current winning coach at the college level and Gruden doesn't fit that.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I would have to say, KF's style of coaching probably fits ND the best - slow, old school football that sneaks out close wins on a constant basis. Not flashy but very effective.

It would be a great get for ND but a bad move for KF - in my opinion.

I wonder who else ends up on this list

Shanahan would be stupid to take the ND job. He'll have about 10 different NCAA and NFL offers shortly and that would be the most stressful/least rewarding of all for him.

It would be less stressful than any of the NFL jobs... I think it takes someone with a HUGE ego to take the ND job and beleive they can bring them back to a National Power and Shanahan fits that bill to a T. Plus he has a great Irish name.

IF Urban Meyer were to leave for ND, and I don't think he would, Shanahan would take the Gator job in about two seconds. He's very tight with Jeremy Foley the Florida AD.
