I do think Meyer will seriously consider it. Notre Dame is his dream job, and what better time to leave? They may win another NC this year, but then the workhorse Tebow is gone and you likely are going to take some kind of a step back. Why not go now, if it really is your dream job?

It would be best for both RichRod and Michigan to just end it now. Fans don't embrace coaches that lose immediately. I'm sure they will embrace him when he starts winning. It's not like he forgot to coach all of a sudden. It's also not like WVU was immediately on the national scene. I would be shocked if he doesn't have Michigan winning 8-9 games next season. His style of offense will wreak havoc with the ridiculously slooooow Big 10...

He has only had 2 years to get things going there and he already has things slowly going the right direction. And when he got there, it wasnt great to begin with.Rich Rod will recruit speed and this will certainly tear up the big 10. He started his years this same way in West Virginia. He had 2 losing seasons before he turned things around. I will go on record and say that he has Michigan back in the National Title hunt in 2-3 years.

Re: Rumor is that Urban Meyer is interested in Notre Dame
The Notre Dame job clearly looks like it will be open. If they canned Davie and Willingham for what they did then they need to give Weis the boot as well because his winning percentage is worse. They do have a pretty young and talented team but they have played very poorly on defense this year. Weis will get a pro OC slot in a heartbeat.
As for the replacement, ND needs to get a proven guy (Meyer, Stoops) and not an up-and-comer (Kelly). The ND job is a really tough one if they continue to be unwilling to lower academic standards. I caught a stat as I was flipping channels yesterday that ND lead the country in graduation rate with 96% of the FB players graduating (I believe they tied with Duke). Most other schools are just trying to keep kids eligible and not get whacked by the APR...ND actually wants to graduate kids.
They will probabaly end up paying the right guy $5-6 million. I laughed at Lou Holtz on ESPN talking about the most he ever made at ND being $135,000. It is really incredible how the coaching salaries have escalated in just a few short years.
As for Michigan, they would be foolish to run off RR right now. I think they are close to having the players and system to run roughshod over the slow and plodding beast that is currently Big 10 FB. However, if they do run him, they can have Miles. Miles is just not that good of a coach...certainly not one deserving of the $4 million he makes. The game management at the end of the game yesterday against Ole Miss was pathetic.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

I agree it will be short sighted for Michigan to let RR go this early. I agree that offense with the right players could run all over the Big 10.
Les Miles is a risk taker. That works some times, but it's kinda like playing the slots in Vegas.

He is a risk taker, but not calling timeout on third down last night and then having his team not ready to kick a field goal or take another quick shot to the endzone was pretty bad.

Why not Charlie Strong? You seem to advocate him for every other job, why not Florida?

RichRod does not have another 2-3 years to get in the National Title hunt. Remember, we are talking about Michigan, the winningest program in NCAA history. This is two years in a row without a bowl game and the first time they have finished last in the Big 10 since the 1930s. It may not be fair but IF he gets another year, it is next year or bust for him in Ann Arbor.

Im not saying that he wont be winning next year. He will be bowling next year and will prolly be looking at winning the big 10 as well.

Re: Rumor is that Urban Meyer is interested in Notre Dame
IF Urban wants to move to a new job this would be the "best" time with Tebow leaving but I certainly wouldn't want to step into the Notre Dame job right now. If he does I agree with the OP that some other very big name guys are going to move around. Lot's of stressed out AD's and players.

Re: Rumor is that Urban Meyer is interested in Notre Dame
Notre Dame will be losing Jimmy C to the NFL after this season, so that will really hurt whomever takes over. I can also see Golden Tate leaving for the NFL if Chuck gets canned and Jimmy moves on.
